baby is thinking?
Or wanted to stop the tears of frustration?
Now you can!!
Baby sign language is a fantastic way for you to communicate with your baby. Signing is not just for non-hearing babies. It helps pre-verbal babies communicate with their loved ones.
Studies conducted in the United States shows signing:-
* Reduces frustration
* Builds self confidence and self esteem
* Helps strengthen bonds with loved ones
* Opens a window to your child’s mind
* Can speed up speech development
* Can increase IQ
Babies who sign are generally happier and more content.
You do not have to be an expert at signing. In fact you do not have to have any knowledge in the area at all. We are not trying to teach them a complete language, just a few key words to help bridge the communication gap.
The signs are very simple. Based on Auslan, the official Australian sign language, they have been modified so that little hands can easily perform the signs.
There is no specific age to begin signing with your baby but to avoid becoming discouraged when your baby does not sign back immediately, we suggest starting at around 7 or 8 months. If your baby is waving “good bye” or shaking their head for “no” then they are ready to start learning.
You will be amazed at how fulfilled you will feel when your baby starts signing back to you.
The sense of achievement you will feel when you can give your child what they are asking for without having to guess, or ask 20 questions, is remarkable!
When they can ask for a bottle of milk or a biscuit without having to resort to tears or tantrums, or they can tell you about the bird they saw in the tree or that the neighbour’s dog is barking, you will agree that baby sign language is well worth learning.
